Gary Alan Housknecht passed away peacefully on the morning of October 12, 2024. Gary was born October 23rd, 1950 in Flint, Michigan to Don and Doris (Sager) Housknecht.
He graduated from Fenton High School in the class of 1969, received a Bachelor’s in Accounting at Missouri State University, and went on to serve in the United States Air Force where he received an honorable discharge after serving for 2 years in the Vietnam War.
He married Neva (Hampton) on April 17th, 1976 and to this union were born 2 children.
Gary was an executive accountant at the VFW headquarters in Kansas City and held various accounting positions before he retired.
He was an ordained Elder of The Church of Christ, Temple Lot. He loved animals – especially koalas, listening to music, singing, tweaking things, making things permanent fixtures that weren’t necessarily meant to be, and camping with his family. His most notable personality traits: he was ornery and never sugarcoated anything.
Gary is survived by his wife, Neva, his 2 sons, Oliver and Milo, his sister, Rhea, and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 3 of his siblings: Donna Housknecht Green, Barbara Kimball, and Victor Housknecht.
