Roger Gault, 85, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018. A visitation will be held from 10-11am on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Remnant Church of Jesus Christ 2820 MO-291, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will follow at 11am at the church.
Roger was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 1, 1933 to Noble Clyde Gault and Gertrude Winifred (Rogers) Gault. He graduated from Clarenceville High School (Livonia, Michigan) in 1951, Graceland College in 1953, Eastern Michigan University with a BS (1958) and MA (1959). In 1979 he received a Doctor of Education degree from Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan). He was drafted and served two years in the U.S. Army – He was a ski-trooper and served and trained in Alaska (1953-1955)
Roger Married Georgia Lee (Harris) Gault on September 12, 1953; they have two sons – Bradley C. Gault (wife Jeri) of Buckner, Missouri and Murray A. Gault (wife Kathy) of Raleigh, North Carolina; four grandchildren – Ashley Gault of Blue Springs, Missouri; Heather Todd (husband Kyle) of Grain Valley, Missouri; Christopher Gault (wife Brianna) of Raleigh, North Carolina; and Kristin Gault of Clayton, North Carolina – and four great grandchildren – Samantha Gault, Makenzie Todd, Liam Todd, and James Gault.
Roger was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was ordained a Teacher in 1954, an Elder in 1957 and High Priest in 1965. He served the church in many capacities including Pastor, District President, Stake High Council, and Stake Presidency. He was in full time ministry from 1967-1969.
In 1991, Roger retired from public education as a Middle School Assistant Principal and moved from Michigan to Independence where he was involved in the creation and development of Center Place Restoration School – serving as the School Board President for nine years.
He was preceded in death by his mother Gertrude Winifred Gault, father Noble Clyde Gault and sister Anne Frizzell in 2011.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Zarahemla Branch Missionary Fund 502 SW 15th St. Blue Springs, MO 64015.
