Henry Arthur George, 96, of Independence, MO passed away April 19, 2020. Arthur was born July 4, 1923 in Independence, MO to Lewis Curtis George and Holiece (Noland) George. When Arthur was seven years old, his family moved to the family farm in Excelsior Springs. He graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1941. Arthur married his high school sweetheart Violet (Miller) George in 1944. The couple moved to Independence in 1949, where they raised their children. Arthur worked for the Army Corps of Engineers, retiring after 30 years, in 1977. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Independence, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was recognized as Deacon Emeritus for his years of service. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; his wife of 73 years, Violet M. George; son, Gary S. George; and grandson, Richard M. Crane. He is survived by one brother, Kenneth George (Judy); son, Curtis A. George (Carol); daughter, Susan G. Crane (Michael); five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Arthur will always be remembered as a wonderful father and grandfather.
