George William Lank

George W Lank 84 of Independence Mo. passed peacefully at his home on February 3, 2025. George was born in Washington Pa. on September 22, 1940 to Ada and George Lank Sr. George was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Sunny and Billy Lank. George was in the Navy for 4 years. He served on the USS Keasarge for 4 years. George left the Navy and met Barbara at the Eagles Club. They married a year and a half later. George lived his life in Independence where they attended Fairmont Christian church. They made lifetime friends and George leaned into Gods world making him a disciple among men. He served as a Deacon/Elder. His greatest joy serving in the church was teaching the YMP class. George had many hobbies, but fishing and junking were his top priorities. He enjoyed his time in the Independence Horseshoe Club. George was survived by his wife of 60 years Barbara Lank. She was the love of his life and they spent their lives teaching all of us what marriage should look like. George has 2 children; Rhonda Zupon and husband John of Independence, Mo, a son Mark Lank and wife Heather of Grain Valley Mo, a sister Sandra McHenry, Baldwin Ks. and JD Lank Denver, Co grandchildren; Sean Lank of Independence, Mo, Mikie Zupon and wife Alison Zupon of Newington Ct, Abi Schilling and husband Adam of Blue Springs, Mo, Shane Lank of Springfield Mo, Makynzye Lank of Grain Valley Mo, Cameron Lank of Grain Valley Mo, Angela Olson of Independence, Mo. and 3 great grandchildren. George’s service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday February 8th 2025 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W Lexington Ave. Independence, Mo 64052. Burial with full military honors will be in Lobb Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday February 7th from 6pm-8pm at the chapel. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Mt Washington food pantry in care of Carson-Speaks Chapel.
