Margery B. Gerber

Margery B. Gerber, 93, Independence MO, passed away Monday, July 26, 2004, at Independence Regional Health Center. Viewing and visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at George C. Carson and Sons Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, followed by a Memorial Celebration at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Stone Church Community of Christ. Mrs. Gerber was born in Delores, CO, to William and Bertha Boyd. Margery attended Graceland College, graduating in 1932, She was active for many years alongside her husband, Mark Gerber, in their business, Gerber Gift & Jewelry. She taught for many years in the Independence School District, retiring in 1976. Margery belonged to the Retired Teachers Association, the Hospital Auxillary, Girl Scouts, and had volunteered at the Community of Christ Auditorium, the Temple, and the hospital. She was a member of the Stone Church congregation of the Community of Christ. Margery was preceded in death by her husband Mark T. Gerber, in 1993. She is survived by her three daughters, Marcia Pugh, Sugar Creek MO, Anita Godfrey, Warrensburg, MO, and Jeannette Hurshman, Neosho Rapids, KS; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her sister, Velma Brolliar, Dallas TX; and many other loving relatives and friends.
