Raymond F. Gerber, 96, of Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at White Ridge Health Center. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Outreach International. Ray was born January 13, 1910 in Independence, MO, the fourth of eight children, to Theodore and Cora (Brace) Gerber. Mr. Gerber was an active member and ordained Elder in the Community of Christ Church. He sang along with his wife, Polly, in the Messiah Choir and played the violin for church services as well. Mr. Gerber was a volunteer later in life at the Community of Christ Temple and community service organizations. At the age of 88, Ray traveled to Honduras for a medical mission trip to remodel a health clinic. Mr. Gerber is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Peggy Gerber, daughter and son-in-law Jean and David Livingston; grandchildren Gina and Steve Brumfield, Kent and Kristy Livingston, Leigh and Dale Turner; great-grandchildren Timothy and Frank Brumfield, Jr., Haleigh and Stevie Livingston, Ciara, Allyson and Lauren Turner. Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Polly Gerber in 1995; three brothers and four sisters.
