Raymond Sterling "Ray� Gibson
Ray Gibson, 78, of Independence died on July 28, 2006 at his home. Visitation will be held on Monday at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church from 10 - 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at Nativity of Mary at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Raymond was a loving husband, dad and grandpa. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Ray will be dearly missed. He was born in Sturges, Missouri on October 15, 1927 the son of William A. and Mary Elizabeth (Ragan) Gibson. Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a PBX Installer for 37 years retiring in 1986. He did independent telephone work for twelve years after his retirement. Ray was a member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church since 1959, and was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He married Wanda J. Yocum and she survives of the home. He is also survived by three children: a daughter Pamela Eighmey and her husband Greg of Independence, Mo., two sons, James Gibson and wife Susan of Kansas City, Mo. and Daniel Gibson and wife, Julie of Olathe, Ks. nine grandchildren: Dane Eighmey, Devin Eighmey, Christina Smith, Matthew Gibson, Mary Gibson, Dalton Eighmey, Jonathan Gibson, Katherine Gibson, Sara Gibson, two brothers, Jim Gibson of Seattle, WA., William Gibson of Chillicothe, Mo., and a sister Mary Jean Davies of Laurie, Mo.
