Scott Sohner Gibson

Scott Sohner Gibson, 40, born March 20, 1974 of Independence, Missouri passed away on April 4th 2014. Visitation will be Sunday April 13th 2014 5:00-7:00 pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 East 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Funeral will be held Monday April 14th at 2:00 pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel with graveside service immediately following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64138. Scott was born in La Paz, Bolivia; he came to the States in the summer of 1975, the son of Nancy S. Gibson and John M. Gibson. He grew up in Independence, MO, attended school at Wentworth Military Academy and graduated from Rockhurst University. He worked at Lone Summit Ranch, Lee's Summit, MO for 20 years. At the end of his life he was an amazing stay at home dad to his daughter Jillian. In a previous marriage Scott had a son Xavier Gerardo Gibson. Xavier passed away at 22 months of age with a heart defect. Scott leaves behind wife Jennifer, 2 year old daughter Jillian, mother Nancy Gibson of Rock Island, IL; father and step-mom John and Judy Gibson of The Villages, FL; sisters Heather Allen and husband of Greenwood, MO; Jennifer “J.J.” Ringgold and husband of Lee’s Summit, MO; Amber Glick of Scottsdale, AZ; brother Josh Glick of Phoenix, AZ; five nephews; a niece and many close life-long friends. Scott will be buried next to his son Xavier.
