Alberta Gillespie

Alberta Marie Gillespie, 78 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made in her name to the American Heart Association. Alberta was born September 5, 1934 in Kansas City, KS to Richard and Victoria Marie (Hansen) Sybert and has been a lifelong area resident. She enjoyed traveling, camping, the theatre, dining out, boating and going to Branson. She was a member of the Englewood Assembly of God Church. She had worked for Fortis Insurance Company for many years. She is survived by; 2 daughters, Patricia Ann Martin of Independence, MO, Regina Lynn Scofield and husband Douglas of Lee’s Summit, MO; 2 sons, Johnny Joe Sciortino and wife Rose of Albany, MO and James Russell Martin of Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Allen Martin in 1961 an infant son, Allen Roy Martin in 1955, and 2 brothers, Richard Sybert and Jack Jacobs.
