Penny Sue Gilliland

Penny Gilliland, 79, of Blue Springs, MO passed away at her home on Thursday, March 24th, 2022. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Wednesday, March 30th at Speaks Suburban Chapel (18020 E 39th St Independence, MO 64055).
Penny was born on July 18, 1942. On June 10, 1962, Penny married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Jack Gilliland. From their union came two children, Dan and Tammy. For over 25 years, Penny worked at Fike Metal in Blue Springs overseeing quality control. In her free time, Penny indulged in life’s simple pleasures. She loved bird watching, going on leisurely walks, and tending to her flower garden. Penny was an incredibly kind, compassionate, and generous soul. She lovingly cared for her mom for many years and was a dedicated prayer-warrior, always praying for those who needed it.
Penny will be remembered by son Daniel Gilliland and wife Tammy of Independence, MO; daughter Tammy Reed and husband Kevin of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren Amber Gilliland, Joshua Gilliland, Makenzie Tetlow and husband Teddy, Chance Reed and wife Samantha, Ben Gilliland and wife Kourtney; three great-grandchildren Mariah Tetlow, Kennedy Tetlow, and Jack Gilliland.
