Kenneth Charles Ginardi

April 25, 1947 — June 28, 2016

Ken Ginardi, 69, slipped away from this life into eternity and into the presence of God on Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016, thanks to the gift of salvation God gave to us through the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ.

He was born in Pittsburg, KS, and graduated with an Associates Degree from Wentworth Military Academy. While at Wentworth, he was a member of the boxing team and was champion in his weight class in the Golden Gloves tournament in 1966. He was a hard working man who loved life and was always playing practical jokes with his friends, family and co-workers. He had a special love for dogs and several of the strays he found became part of the family. He liked water sports and especially loved to play softball. On most weekends during the Nascar season, he would be found watching the races. If he was hungry for a good steak, barbeque or a greasy hamburger, the distance he would have to go to get it was not a factor. During a difficult two year journey to overcome the complications from his esophagectomy in 2014, he never gave up hope and fought courageously each and every day. For 44 years, he loved and worked hard at his job and his fellow co-workers became family to him. Their visits and the visits of other family and longtime friends from Pittsburg, KS, to him at our home and in the hospital brought so much love, warmth, joy and laughter to his heart, especially when reminiscing all the good times and fun shared together over the years. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa. We take comfort in knowing that we will see him again, “for the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, from 6-8pm, at Speaks Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. in Independence, MO. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, at 10am. He will be laid to rest in Garden of Memories, Pittsburg, KS, at 2:30pm Wednesday, July 6.
