Geo. "Dick" Gleason

January 23, 1931 — October 26, 2005

Geo. "Dick� Gleason, 74, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, October 26th at the Medical Center of Independence. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service in the chapel from 10-11:00. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Independence, 125 S. Pleasant, Independence, MO 64050. Dick was the third of ten children and was born January 23, 1931 in Cozad, NE to Wally and Vera (Hilty) Gleason. He was a veteran of the Army having served in occupied Germany. Mr. Gleason was a member of the First Christian Church of Independence and was a charter member of the Vintage Chevrolet Car Club. He worked for several years as a contractor for Southwestern Bell Telephone before retiring in 1990. Dick is survived by his wife of 51 years, Norma (Mitchell) Gleason of the home; son Richard E. Gleason and wife Som of Blue Springs, MO; granddaughter Angela Sue Drew; siblings Ronald Gleason and Larry Gleason both of Omaha, NE, Jim Gleason of Kearney, NE, Janet Browers of Ironton, MO and Shirley Wells of Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by his son Kevin W. Gleason in 2000, and siblings Ed, Jack and Don Gleason, Betty Markus.
