Marybelle Goettel passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 in the care of The Villages of Jackson Creek and St. Luke’s Hospice. Marybelle was born November 16, 1924 in Florida, Missouri to James Baker and Mary Alice (Miller) Baker. She graduated from Stoutsville High School and later moved to Kansas City, MO, where she worked at the Federal Reserve Bank. She married Paul Goettel on August 18, 1944 and spent the remainder of her life as a loving wife, mother and homemaker in Independence, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Paul in July 2008; her brothers Clarence, Dude, Stanley; and sister Dulcie Hickman. She is survived by one sister, Murline Hamilton, of Paris, Missouri; two children, David Goettel (wife Henri,) and Liesa Schroeder (husband Jon,) both of Independence; as well as one granddaughter, Courtney Schroeder of Overland Park, Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday, August 11, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence. Graveside service will be held Friday, August 12 at 10:30 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence.
