Edward Wesley Gomez passed away peacefully on December 18, 2008. He was born in Detroit, MI to Annabelle Pearson. Annabelle married her love, Paul Gonzalez-Gomez, who later adopted Ed. Ed was raised in and around the Detroit area and graduated from Detroit Lutheran High School. He attended college at Walsh School of Accounting, where he graduated with a Bachelors degree. Ed served our country for six years in the Army Reserves as Sergeant in charge of Basic Training. He worked in Public Accounting for 30 years, during which time he owned and operated many businesses. Ed moved to the Kansas City area, in the early 1990’s where he met and married his wife Rhonda. He leaves behind his wife, Rhonda, a son, Michael Gomez, who is currently serving in the United States Air Force, daughter, Rachael who is a full time college student. Ed is a proud PaPa to his granddaughter, Gracelyn Gomez, who was the true joy in his life. He is also survived by. sister and brother-in-law Paula and Dave Titheridge, cousins Charles F. and Marilyn Pearson, numerous nieces and nephews including, Larry and Christina Smith. He also leaves his never ending love for Dave Ulmer, Sharon and Kevin O’Reilly, Cathy and Joe Davis and their children Paul and Sarah. Ed was a voracious reader with a keen intellect. When his health allowed, he was an avid skier who loved to travel and find new slopes to conquer. Ed was a strong Christian who firmly believed he was leaving this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He not only found his own peace in passing, but also left us knowing he would soon see us again. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 22, 2008 at the Speaks Buckner Chapel. Burial will be in Buckner Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the chapel. Ed grew up surrounded by a loving extended family, including those who preceded him in death, his parents Annabelle and Paul Gomez, aunt Ethel and uncle Cuthbert Glanville, aunt Pearl and uncle Hazen Barringer, and grandmother, Minnie Pearson.
