Diana Mae Gonzales, 73, of Smithville, Missouri, joined her beloved husband Pete Gonzales, in the loving arms of their savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at North Kansas City Hospital while holding her son’s hand. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and many friends she had touched throughout her full and memorable life. Diana was born 12-31-1938 in Rosedale, Kansas to Arthur and Mae Johnson. After the tragic loss of her mother at the age of 13, her father would remarry and bring her loving step-mother Lillian into her life. Having worked for over 20 years at the Wilcox Electric company, she retired to become a homemaker and care for her family that she so dearly loved. While with Wilcox, she acquired many championship Table Tennis trophies through the company sponsored teams. She cherished tending to her family and friends through her loving acts of cooking, sewing, hosting family and friend gatherings and offering free life guidance counseling. She loved to play games and watch sports. Her personal time was spent writing poems to those she loved and spoiling her dogs. She is survived by her loving children Pete and Sharron Gonzales, her faithful caretakers for over 4 years, Michael and Linda Gonzales of Kearney, Mo., Misty and Gilbert Aguirre of Kansas City, Mo; two sisters, Shirley Johnson of California, JoAnn and Toby Carpenter of Gladstone, Mo; four grandchildren, Joshua, Nicole, Jacqui and Michael; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved dog Angel. She was preceded in death by both parents and stepmother; her loving husband of 50 years, Pete Gonzales; two sisters, Margie DeSouza and Wanda Adee; and many other cherished family pets. Diana will leave a legacy of her faith in God and her love for children to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
