Olive “Fay” Goodman, 96, passed away on May 9th, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Fay was born on January 2nd, 1926 in Newton County, Missouri to David and Edith Morris. She was raised in the Neosho, Missouri area where she graduated from Pierce City High School in 1944.
Fay then moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she met and married Richard Goodman in November 1945 and they had three sons. In 1953, Fay began her career at the Sears and Roebuck Co. and retired in 1987. “Granny”, as she was lovingly called, loved to be outside to garden, walk, play games, or just to sit and pass the time. She was a hardworking and independent woman who was still mowing her lawn at the age of 94.
Fay was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Goodman (1986) and her son Vernon Goodman (1953).
Olive Fay Goodman is survived by her two sons, Larry and Keith; three grandchildren, Krisi, Scott, and Amy; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, Cassandra, Alena, Kaden, and Karsen; and three great-great-grandchildren, Makenna, Skylar, and Arabella.
Fay lived for family and made everyone feel loved and welcome. Her laugh, smile, and southern witticisms are cherished memories that will be held by all who had the privilege to meet and know her. Olive Fay Morris Goodman will be greatly missed.
A funeral service to honor Fay will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055.
