Raymond Scott Gorley, 86, Independence, MO. passed away Dec. 26, 2005. Services will be 2 pm, Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the American Lung Assoc. Raymond was born June 19, 1919 in Weir, KS. to Gideon Scott and Bessie Elizabeth (Seymour) Gorley. He attended school in Weir, KS. as well as Telegraph School in Kansas City, MO., and auto mechanic school in St. Louis, MO. Raymond became a private pilot in 1964 and enjoyed flying. He was an Army Air Corp, 493rd A.S.G. B-26 Bomber Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Knife and Fork Club. Also, Raymond was a deacon at the South Crysler Restoration Branch Church where he built many projects. Raymond was an independent owner/operator truck driver and later joined Teamsters Local #41 and drove for Ward Fleet and Signal Delivery before retiring in 1981 with 32 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ivan Lee Gorley and sister Sylvia Irene Bounds. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Irene Gorley, of the home; sons Raymond Wayne Gorley and wife Carol, Lee�s Summit, MO; Roger Scott Gorley, Independence, MO; daughter Shirley Jean Beasley and husband Chris, Reno, NV; five grandchildren Elyse Irene (Gorley) McLeod and husband Josh, Independence, MO; Amanda Diane Gorley, Springfield, MO; John William Beasley, Michael Andrew Beasley, and Sarah Elizabeth Beasley, all of Reno, NV; brothers Glenn Gorley, Coffeyville, KS; John Gorley, Nowata, OK; sisters Reba Gorley, Wichita, KS; Retha Ferguson, Weir, KS; and Elizabeth Self, Weir, KS.
