Max Duane Gray Sr. of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 17, 2021 and was welcomed into heaven by his lord and savior. He was 93. Max was the 5th child of 15 children born to Clarence and Grace (Arnold) Gray on December 16, 1928 in Aurora, Mo. He enjoyed sharing that he was from a large family and loved to tell stories about growing up on the farm.
At the age of 17 Max joined the Navy. Shortly afterwards he was married to the love of his life, Marilyn Gray and they spent the next 70 years creating memories together. Max worked for Ford Motor Company. He began working on the assembly line before he was promoted to a Forman in the paint department. He dedicated over 46 years of his life to that company before retiring. Max loved his family, was proud of his large garden and volunteered his time as a high school counselor at the Kansas City Baptist Temple. He was known for his crazy sense of humor, was kind and willing to help anyone at any time.
Max is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn of the home; sons, Max D. Gray JR (Robin) and James Gray (Linda); daughters, Michelle Harbaugh and Lisa Pettijohn (Doug); 13 grandchildren, Jason Gray, Greg Martin, Zachary Gray, Andrew Gray, Tiffany Harbaugh, Gabrielle Morris, Alex Gray, Hannah Pettijohn , Kate Pettijohn , Tarah Meck-Gilbert and Kali Nelson and 34 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death his parents, Clarence and Grace Gray: grandsons, Tom Martin and Michael Harbaugh, and great grandson, Spencer Martin 6 brothers and 1 sister.
Max was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
