Robert Richard Greenawalt, 78 of Bates City, Mo passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs, MO. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052 with burial in New Salem Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association or to the First Baptist Church of Bates City, MO. Robert was born January 31, 1940 in Mozer, WV to John Richard and Alma (Judy) Greenawalt. He worked for over 35 years at General Mills Corporation as a machine mechanic before he retired in 2003. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and gardening as well as woodworking and could fix anything. He was a member of the NRA and the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers & Grain Millers, Local 218 in Kansas City, MO. He is survived by; his loving wife, Barbara of the home; 2 daughters, Melissa Beck and husband William of Buckner, MO and Teresa Stone of Kansas City, MO; 2 sons, Robert Duane Greenawalt and wife Kelly of Independence, MO and Kevin Greenawalt and fiancé Christina of Lee’s Summit, MO; a brother, Allen Greenawalt and Betty of Petersburg, WV; 5 sisters, Phyllis Miller of Petersburg, WV, Doris Dunn of Uppertrack, WV, Gladys Meadows and husband Larry of Franklin, WV, Darlene Meadows and husband Darrell and Barbara Ray all of Uppertrack, WV; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brother in laws, Richard Dunn and Frank Ray, a brother, Kelly Greenawalt and a son-in-law Randy Stone.
