Delbert Lee Grindstaff, 76 of Independence, passed away Fri, Dec 30, 2005 at the Regency Care Center. Services will be 2:30 pm, Mon. Jan 2, 2006 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Indep. MO with the visitation being held from 1 �" 2:30 pm at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to KC Hospice or to a charity of choice. Mr. Grindstaff was born on Oct 7, 1929 to Jesse and Leona Grindstaff in Rich Hill, MO. He had been a millwright at Armco Steel retiring in 1983. He was also co-owner of Grindstaff Engines until 1994. Delbert was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, who loved and adored his grandchildren very much. He loved to work on cars and enjoyed finding the fixer-up cars to repair. Delbert had lived in Mission, TX for several years before moving back to Independence a year ago. He had been an Army Paratrooper from 1946 to 1948 and was a member of Coventry Estates Baptist Church. Delbert is survived by his wife, Emogene "Jean" Grindstaff of Independence. Six sons, Dale Grindstaff and wife Dawn of Independence, Rick Grindstaff and wife Teresa of dependence, Kerry Grindstaff of Independence, Tom Grindstaff and wife Dee of Wichita, KS, Steve and wife Wanda of Overland Park, KS and Randy Grindstaff of Independence. A stepdaughter, Jan Morgan and husband Tim of Quincy, IL. A brother, Joseph Grindstaff of Illinois. Three sisters, Lillian White of Aptos, CA, Lilliie Marie Lynn of Conway, MO and Leona Kumm of
Indianola, IA. Eleven grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
