David C. Grooms

David C. Grooms, 89, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Nov. 28, 2019. Services will be 2 pm, Sat., Nov. 30 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Salem Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the American Lung Association, 8400 W 110th St Suite 130, Overland Park, KS 66210.
David was born June 30, 1930 in Thayer, MO and graduated from Koskonong High School in a class of nine students. He had a forty-year career in the Advertising Dept. at Western Auto and retired in 1990. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Creighton United Methodist Church and the Lions Club.
David was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Grooms. He is survived by son David R. Grooms, Garden City, MO; daughter Donna Nightingale and husband Troy, Lake Elmo, MN; son Rick Grooms, Lee’s Summit, MO; daughter Mary McMahon and husband David, Allen, TX, thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
