William T. Guthrie

William T. Guthrie, 86, of Independence, MO, passed away, Sunday, November 2, 2003 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2003 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel with burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday evening at the chapel. William was born May 12, 1917 in Nebo, Illinois to Oral Reed and Mamie Belle (Pruett) Guthrie. He was a minister and missionary for the R.L.D.S. Church for 32 years before his retirement in 1979. He was currently attending the Farview Restoration Branch Church. He was married to Helen Jane McGaughy, she passed away in 2000. He is survived by; a son, David Guthrie of Greenville, SC; 2 daughters, Judy Varisco of Holden, ME and June Holstrum of Lexington, SC; a Brother, Merle Guthrie of Independence, MO; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Memorial may be made to the Jane Guthrie Foundation c/o June Holstrum 214 Parkside Rd. Lexington, SC 29072.
