Thomas H. Haas, born July 30, 1943, laid to rest July 6th, 2017. Tom passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was raised on his family's dairy farm where he learned to raise calves, deliver milk and corral cows home from pasture. As a young sports enthusiast Tom excelled in baseball and basketball at William Chrisman High School. He attended the Kansas State University where his varsity basketball team was recognized by the University for their accomplishment in the NCAA 26th Annual National Collegiate Basketball Championship. While at KSU he was a brother of the chapter of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. There he embraced the virtues of the organization that influenced his life thereafter. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. Following his graduation, he worked for the Kansas City Star in the advertising department. Tom developed a passion for real estate which led to a role in influencing the development of numerous residential subdivisions and commercial properties in Independence, Buckner and Olathe. Tom loved to share jokes, good or bad. He rarely missed meeting his dear friends for breakfast every day. Tom was a kind, generous and charitable person. He held high his loyalty and kinship to his fraternity brothers. Above all, he loved his family who also loved him dearly. He will be deeply missed by all.
