Gwendolyn Nadine "Gwen" Hake (Cousins)

October 26, 1940 — April 18, 2020

Gwen Hake, 79, of Independence, MO passed away April 18, 2020. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Washington Cemetery beside her loving husband Harold, who passed away on March 29, 2020. Public service for both Harold and Gwen will be held at a later date. Gwen was born on October 26, 1940 in Kansas City, MO. She was a graduate of Northeast High School and was a member of the Northeast High School Lunch group. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree and had attended Longview Community College. Gwen retired from H&R Block where she was the accounting manager. Gwen was involved in several civic groups and clubs including: book club, quilting group, basket weaving, Pacers, crochet group, Cub Scouts and the Public Library. She was very active in her church, All Saints Lutheran. Gwen had 2 sons that were her pride and joy. She encouraged and supported their activities include driving Chris to all of his tournaments for Judo, enabling him to achieve his Brown Belt. Gwen was also proud and supportive of her grandchildren. Gwen was an animal lover and took great delight in her granddaughter, Crystal’s menagerie of farm animals! She was very supportive of her grandson James and his pursuit of his Cyber Security academics. She loved playing dolls with her great granddaughters! Gwen loved everyone and everyone loved her, she will be truly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include: son Chris Hake and his wife Susan; granddaughter Crystal Hake; grandson James Hake and his wife Sarah; great grandchildren Leighanna and Kensi Hake; brother Ray Cousins; extended family and friends. Gwen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Harold Hake, son John Hake, great granddaughter Realeigh, and her parents. In memory of Gwen contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
