Irene Hallagin, 87, Independence, MO passed away April 7, 2018. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 12 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 10113 E Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64053; interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, before the service at church. The family requests contributions to St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Irene was born March 17, 1931 in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Northeast High School and worked in the cafeteria at St. Mary’s High school for many years. She later worked in the dietary department at Independence Regional Hospital. She enjoyed fishing, flower gardening and yardwork. She won an award for Neighborhood Beautification from the City of Independence for her yardwork. She was a life-long member of St. Ann’s Parish and had been active in the Alter Society. She volunteered at the Sisters of St. Francis. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Independence.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Hallagin, daughter Sherry Tignor and son-in-law David Tignor. She is survived by daughters Debbie Thompson, Montrose, CO; Patty Boyle and husband Craig, Gladstone, MO; son Mike Hallagin and wife Becky, Paola, KS; daughter Tammy Barr and husband Larry; sister Karen Prince, all of Independence, MO; Judy Pensebene and husband Greg, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
