Judith Ann Hallman, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on March 29th, 2018. She left this world with family at her side and surrounded by love.
Judie was born on September 24th, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Milo and Betty Battles. She spent her childhood days playing outdoors with her parents and siblings at Swope Park, and gathering with her siblings to listen to their Grandpa Ruffie play wonderful tunes on his harmonica, fondly known as the juice harp, keeping time with his tapping toes.
She graduated from Raytown High School in 1959. After graduation, she attended cosmetology school in Kansas City and practiced cosmetology for over 20 years. After finishing her career in cosmetology, she held several jobs in the customer service industry until her retirement from Aquila.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved family. She also enjoyed playing dominoes with friends and family, sipping coffee and reading mystery novels, and knitting. The beautiful blankets she created will be treasured as mementos by her family.
She is known by many names – Mom, Sis, Grandma, Meme. She is loved and missed immensely by all who have had the pleasure of knowing her.
Judie is survived by her mother, Betty, sister Juanita, brothers George and Gene, sister Karen, and their children and grandchildren; her children Kim, Debbie and spouse Tim, Jimmy, Joe and spouse Victoria. She is survived by her grandchildren Nick and spouse Molly, Christina and spouse Dustin, Dana and spouse Jeff, Michael, Brandon, Christen and spouse Kevin, Blake, Monica, Hanna, Alec, Tryston, Erica, and Adam. Judie is survived by her great-grandchildren Aubrey, Haylie, Reagan, Gavin, Sofie, Madeline, Olivia, Bevin, Michael, Brekkyn, Greyson, and Owen. She is survived by her dear friend, Sandy.
Judie is preceded in death by her father, Milo, and grandsons Joseph and Michael.
A celebration of life will be held in Judie’s honor at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, Missouri 64055 on Friday April 6th, 2018 at seven o’clock in the evening.
