Dorine Halsted

Dorine Halsted, 90, of Independence, MO passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at her home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., with burial at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM, Monday evening at the chapel.
Dorine was born January 14, 1917 in Avoca, AR to Thomas and Sarah (Summey) Harrison. She married Burton Halsted on August 30, 1940 and they lived in the area together until his passing in 1970. Dorine loved to garden and collected teddy bears and cardinals. She enjoyed the changing of the seasons and long rides to enjoy the colors of the leaves and lights.
Dorine was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brother Roland Harrison, and two sisters, Wanda Bunton and Dorothea Lightfoot. She is survived by her sister, Waneta Young; niece, Sylvia Taylor; great-nephew, Rodney Johnson; nephew, Bruce Dehn and wife Gitte; nephew, Donald Dehn and wife Martha; special family friend, Claudia Sutherland; and many other nieces and nephews.
