Gladys Marie Hamilton (Smalley)

Gladys Marie “Monk Monk” Hamilton, 61, lost her battle with heart disease on Saturday, October 16, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving husband and family. Gladys was born on October 20, 1959 to Elmer and Ruby Smalley in Kansas City, Missouri.
Gladys had a passion for caring for people. She obtained her CNA at a young age and worked tirelessly in different retirement homes to help care for the elderly. She loved her job and her family fiercely. When Gladys was 22 she married the her best friend and the love of her life Matthew. They spent the next 39 years making memories together. Gladys enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling and cooking. She also loved to spend time at Ellie’s little farmsted with the chickens and turkeys. Gladys was an incredible cook and everyone craved her fried chicken. On Sunday mornings she’d cook breakfast for Matt, always making sure there would be plenty leftovers for him to take to work with him to share with coworkers. No one ever turned down the opportunity to have a taste of her food. Gladys was one of the kindest most compassionate people you’d ever meet and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Matt; daughters, Samantha Smalley and Angela Hamilton; son, Christopher Paxton; brothers, Michael Smalley, Bill Smalley; sisters, Delores Smalley, Twila Blanz, Vickie Larson; sister in law, Ellie Burgess and 8 grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Glenn and William Smalley; and sister, Linda King.
Cremation is planned with a celebration of life at a later date.
