On Sunday, June 7, 2020, Shirley Ann Hamilton, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died at the age of 85.
Shirley was born on February 15, 1935 to Carl and Amelia Mae Duncan. She was married to her husband Charley for 49 years before his passing in 2003. She was a loving homemaker and she and Charley raised three children: Charley, Diana, and Patricia.
Shirley loved to visit with family and was always excited to see her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved music and watching her favorite television shows. Over the years her favorite hobbies included reading and crocheting. She crocheted many blankets and doilies and gave them to family members. She enjoyed many summers walking around Worlds of Fun with her grandkids and taking trips with her family. She also never missed a men’s league game that her son Charley played on. Shirley loved to laugh and be surrounded by family and she will be missed dearly by everyone.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by five siblings: Donna, Carol, Franny, Ronny, and Jerry; and her grandson, Jason.
She is survived by her three children: Charley Hamilton (wife Kathy), Diana Hamilton, and Tricia Hamilton; nine grandchildren: Charley, Jimmy, Amy, Amanda, Matthew, Justin, Natalie, Brad, and Joshua; several great-grandchildren; and a sister Patty Pierce of Raymore.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, from 1-2pm, with funeral at 2pm, both at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. She will be laid to rest in Lobb Cemetery. In honor of her love of children, contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
