Jim Hammer, 62, of Blue Springs, MO passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017 with his children by his side. A visitation will be held from 10:00am – 12:00pm on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Jim was born on February 9, 1955 in Waverly, MO to Lawrence and Luella (Bartshe) Hammer. He was employed at World Class Auto Body for several years in Sedalia, MO before moving to Kansas City to use his talent for building race car motors and to be with his children.
Jim will be remembered by his two sons Jarrid Hammer and Cody Hammer and wife Chelsea; and daughter Bethany Hammer – all of Independence, MO; two brothers Tommy Michael Hammer of Independence, MO, and Ted Hammer of Slater, MO; sister Donna Ross and husband Darrel of Marshall, MO; grandchildren Payton Hammer, Carson Hammer, Zoe Bostic, Londyn Bostic, and Madisyn Hammer; and the mother of his children Sheila Hammer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
