Trent Hammontree, 29, of Independence, MO passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at home in the loving arms of his mother and father Mark. A visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the chapel. He will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence, MO.
Trent was born on January 6, 1989 in Independence, MO. He enjoyed playing baseball, football, hanging with friends, 4 wheeling and getting into shenanigans. He attended Fort Osage High School until the age of 16 when an unfortunate accident left him to have a traumatic brain injury. It did not stop him from laughing with his family, friends, and his little therapists who made him so happy. Every year he and his parents participated in the Amy Thompson Brain Injury 5k run. He made the decision at the age of 16 to be an organ donor and he has already saved several lives.
Trent will be remembered by his parents Lisa Horton and Mark of Independence, MO; brother Tyler Hammontree of Independence, MO; sister Danielle Hammontree of Liberty, MO; grandparents Tom Hedgpeth of Lone Jack, MO, Troy Hammontree and wife Janelle of Sibley, MO; father Vance Hammontree of Liberty, MO; plus many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Janice Hedgpeth.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Brain Injury Association of Kansas and Greater Kansas City.
