Ruby Hanes, 91, of Blue Springs, MO went to be with our Lord on August 4, 2019. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. service on Thursday, August 8, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Ruby was born in Kansas City, MO during the winter of 1927. She attended school in Kansas City, and graduated from Westport High School, class of 1945. After graduation, Ruby met Francis E. “Gene” Hanes from Krebs, OK. They were married October 26, 1947, and enjoyed 40 wonderful years of marriage. Through the years, Ruby and Gene lived in Dallas, TX, Oklahoma City, OK, Little Rock, AR and ended up in Shreveport, LA. While in Little Rock, Ruby began a long association with Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). When they moved to Shreveport, Ruby discovered that they didn’t have BSF in the area. Feeling an emptiness, Ruby pursued forming a group of Christians with that same desire to study God’s Word. The group eventually formed the first BSF in Shreveport. After Gene passed away in 1988, Ruby moved back to the Kansas City area, settling in Blue Springs, MO to be near her sister and extended family. She continued her involvement in BSF in Independence, MO for many years. Ruby has been an active member of CrossWay Bible Church of Blue Springs, MO. She will be dearly missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Online condolences may be expressed at www.speakschapel.com (Arrangements: Speaks Suburban Chapel 816-373-3600)
