Willard E. Harber, father, son, grandfather and brother, 81, formerly of Independence, MO went to be with Jesus, surrounded by loved ones on April 5, 2018. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. service on Saturday, April 7, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Willard “Gene” was born February 26, 1937 in Kansas City, MO to Willard and Maxine Harber. He grew up in Independence, MO where he met the love of his life, Zelia Shipman. They were married on April 17, 1960 and had four children together. Gene served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1962. Soon after, he began working for Ford Motor Company, where he retired after 30 years. After his retirement, he and his wife spent their summer months at the Lake of the Ozarks and would stay in Arizona during the winter. Gene enjoyed fishing, traveling and Amy’s Diner. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Bob Harber. He is survived by his wife, Zelia; daughters, Ramona Stubler (Victor) and Tonia R. Harber-Anderson; sons, Tim Harber (Kathy) and Kevin Harber (Tessica); nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Linda Beebe and Sue Bergman (John).
