Albert “Sam” Samuel Harding, 80, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019. Visitation will be from 9-10am on Sunday, March 10, 2019 with a service at 10am, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St, Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Cemetery. Sam was one of five children, born to Tommy and Mabel (Whitaker) Harding on September 27, 1938 in Ridgeway, MO. Sam grew up and attended Ridgeway High School. Sam worked on his farm for much of his life; a place he dearly loved. In 1973, he was reacquainted with a childhood friend, Barbara Wise, and after a brief courtship, they were married, in 1974. Sam and Barbara have two children; a son, Brad, and daughter, Mindy. Sam worked construction for some time to support his family, then spent over 20 years as a custodian for the Blue Springs School District before retiring in 2012. In his spare time, Sam loved hunting, fishing, being on the farm, spending time with his grandchildren, and attending every one of their various events. Sam was easy to get along with, never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone. He was all about family, unless it was deer season, when it was “deer, then family”. Sam was a special man and a fun guy to be around. Sam is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Harding of Blue Springs; son, Brad (Heather) Harding of Blue Springs; daughter, Mindy (Mike) Marra of Kansas City; grandchildren, Alex Mittie, Kaili Mittie, Faith Harding, and Sam Harding; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both parents. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of Meadowview of Harrisonville for the tremendous care and compassion they provided Sam.
