Eileen Harkins

Eileen Harkins, 88, of Blue Springs, MO passed away August 15, 2013. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, at the Suburban Chapel, with burial to follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. Eileen was born July 4, 1925 on Staten Island, NY, the devoted daughter of Joe and Mae Seiler. She grew up on Staten Island, and married Bill Harkins there in 1959. To their union, three children were born, and the family moved to Missouri in 1979. Eileen was active in church throughout most of her life. She was a member of choirs both in New York and Missouri. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose life was centered around her family. She will be dearly missed. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; son, William Joseph Harkins; brother, Joseph Seiler; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Seiler. She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Harkins; two daughters, Eileen Greathouse and Colleen Jimboy; daughter-in-law, Ingrid Harkins McNicholas; six grandchildren, Jeremy Joseph, Jillian Joseph, Sean Harkins, Harrison Harkins, Matthew Greathouse, Emily Harkins; four step grandchildren, Jen, Shawn, Chris and Trey Jimboy; as well as two nephews, Robert and Joseph Seiler.
