Jim Harless (Gilbert James Jr) died in Marietta GA on Feb 28th 2018. He was 94. Born to Gilbert and Mary Harless on July 29th 1923 in Clendinin W VA, he moved to Oklahoma then Texas as his father found oil field work. Later they moved to Independence MO. After serving in the Philippines during WW2 he came back to Independence and met the love of his life, Delma Fern Steinhauser. They were married June 6th 1948, and had two daughters Sylvia and Gloria. He loved his wife and children, his brother and in-laws, nieces and nephews. He loved his granddaughter, the granddogs, and he loved his cars. He didn’t remember the dates of family events but always knew the car he was driving when they happened! He drove the cars, the church bus, and his motorhomes on the way to many happy adventures that so many of us were lucky to share with him. He was a happy guy, a kind man, and a fun loving dad. Jim is survived by his daughter Sylvia (Sandy Shipman) his daughter Gloria Sanders (David Sanders) Granddaughter Kristen Neal and family brother Melvin Harless (Carol Harless) brother and sister in law Wayne and Betty Steinhauser, two nieces and two nephews and their families.
