Bruce Wayne Harper, 70, of Little Elm, Texas, was born on March 24th, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri, and departed in peace on February 3, 2018. He was born to parents Stanley Harper and Gloria Rodak.
Bruce is survived by beloved wife and high school sweetheart Yvonne Fann Harper, daughter Heather Brown (Robert) and grandson Liam Brown, sister Carol Harper, brothers Dan Harper (Francis) and John Harper (Terry), sister-in-law Billie Hobbs (Floyd) and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sue Dominquez (Luis).
Bruce graduated from East High School in Kansas City, and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. Bruce lived most of his adult life in Independence, Missouri, and worked in the trucking industry. He was employed at Merchants Delivery, American Freight, Carolina Freight, and Cherokee Distribution.
His love and support for his family was paramount in his life. After retiring in 2007, Bruce and Yvonne relocated to Little Elm, Texas in 2010 to share their lives with their daughter and grandson.
Bruce loved watching Liam’s little league practices and games, and adjusted his life to never miss a single one. He was known by all as a lifelong Kansas City and University of Missouri sports fan. He held season tickets for the Chiefs for 30+ years and was thrilled to see the Royals bring home the MLB pennant again in 2015.
A memorial service will be held to honor Bruce on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 2:00 pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, Missouri 64055.
