Norma G. Harper

Norma G. Harper, 91 of Independence, MO passed away at 4;00 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday at the Community of Christ Stone Church sanctuary. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Norma was born June 13, 1915 in Alpena, MI to William and Catherine (McDowell) Carpenter. She was baptized into Christ at the age of 8 at Andover, MO. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Ridgeway High School and attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. She worked for Allis-Chalmers in Independence as a payroll clerk from 1951 until she retired in 1980. She was a member of the Community of Christ Stone Church and also the Graceland College Women�s Auxiliary. She was married to J.D. Harper, he precedes her in death. Survivors include; a daughter, Iris K. Doss of Independence, MO; 2 sisters, Mary Beth Evans of Hattiesburg, MS and Fern Beardsley of Independence, MO; a brother, Clifford Carpenter of Andover, MO; 3 grandchildren, Kenneth W. Doss, Jr, Mary Kathrine Seals and Kevin Lee Doss; 13 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Vicki Lynn Riley.
