Dorothy O. Harrington
Dorothy O. Harrington, 72, of Independence, Mo., passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at her home.
Mrs. Harrington will lie in state at Carson-Speaks Chapel on Sunday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Carson-Speaks Chapel and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Dorothy was born May 15, 1934 in Sedalia, Mo., to John Dalton and Wilma (Bradshaw) Dalton. She loved to travel and was very adventurous. Dorothy loved children and had a big heart. She was a talented seamstress and quilter and enjoyed gardening, collecting angels and antiques. Prior to her marriage she worked with the early computers as a comptometer and key punch operator for Vendo Company. She married Melvin Harrington of Lexington, Missouri. She was an active volunteer with the Teamster�s Local #41 Retiree�s Club. She was also very active in coordinating function, fundraisers and events at the Blue Lodge of the Masonic Temple, Ararat Shrine. She cherished her time with family and friends and enjoyed family gatherings. Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, John Dalton, a son Steven Kelly Harrington, a brother Jack Dalton and her step-father, George "Barney� Barnhill. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Harrington; a daughter, Susan Renee Hudlemeyer and her husband Gary, her mother Wilma Barnhill, granddaughters, Melany Neal and her husband Jim, Adleigh Coy-Hudlemeyer, and Stephanie Harrington, a grandson Kaylan Kelly Harrington, and her great granddaughter Joley Anna Neal. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.
