Betty Lou Harris (Townsend)

Betty Lou Harris, 83 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Cremation is planned with private family inurnment to be held at a later date. Betty was born March 14, 1938 in Koshkonong, MO to Leonard Jake and Teresa Elizabeth (Payne) Townsend. She had worked for Lake City Ammunition Plant and Remington Arms for over 20 years until she retired in 1990. She enjoyed spending time at the Pomme De Terre and time with family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by; 2 children, Brenda Merrick and Janice Hook and her husband Jerry all of Independence, MO; 3 siblings, Mitchell Townsend of Kansas City, MO, Donna Townsend Chillicothe, MO and Lynn Kueker and husband Greg of Kansas City, MO; 4 grandchildren, Christopher, Benjamin, Danielle, Allison and 9 great grandchildren, Jessie, Melissa, Madison, Clayton, Carson, Kalena, Caroline, Lucas and Caden. She was preceded in death her husband, Alvah D. Harris in 2012 and her parents.
