Joy Evelyn Sherman Harris, 98, of Independence, MO passed away, Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at Rosewood Nursing Facility. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2003 at Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday evening at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community of Christ Temple Endowment Fund. Joy was born March 22, 1905 in Independence, MO to Plinnie and Lena Maud (Gould) Sherman. She dedicated her life to the RLDS Chruch and specifically to the youth. She was Zions League leader for many years. She worked at the church World Headquarters and edited several children�s publications and Zion league manuals She was a member of the Gudgell Park RLDS Church and lived at Rosewood Nursing Facility for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Everett Harris in 1977. Survivors include; a son David Sherman Harris and his wife Iris Masten Harris of Independence; 3 grandchildren, Keith and Scott Harris and Janet Heese; 8 grandchildren; three brothers Kenneth, Robert and Everett Sherman all of Independence, MO.
