Leona Lois Harris (Morris)

December 31, 1910 — February 20, 2016

Leona Lois Harris, 105, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, February 20th 2016 at Carmel Hills Nursing Center. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00am Saturday, Feb 27th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:00am. Burial will be held at 1:30pm at Cowgill Cemetery, Cowgill, MO.
Lois was born December 31, 1910 in Sidney, IA; daughter of John E. and Elizabeth (Durfey) Morris. She was an active member of the Church of Christ (Temple Lot) Independence, MO. She married Vance H. Harris on October 13, 1929. To this union, four children were born. They made their home in eastern Nebraska until 1952 when they moved to Independence, MO. They moved to Cowgill in July 1970 where Mrs. Harris resided for thirty years. Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two daughters, Mary Lois Bryant and Margret Elizabeth Gill. Survivors include children, Alvin L. Harris and Martha L. Bruner of Independence, MO; eleven grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren; thirty two great great-grandchildren; a sister, Enid E. Bell of Clifton, CO; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
