Paul E. Harris, age 88,of Independence, MO passed away on March 9, 2005 at the Independence Regional Health Center. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with burial at Blue Springs Cemetery. Paul was born in Blue Springs, MO, the son of Everett and Lenora (Hutchings) Harris. He played basketball and graduated from Blue Springs High School. Paul married Gladys Harakas on December 20, 1939. They were married for 57 years before her death in 1998. Paul was successful in many careers before retiring at age 81! He was a supervisor at a bomber plant during WWII, superintendent of construction at Southwest Ornamental Iron, Co., owned a Phillips 66 and Gulf Gas Station, Crown Center Security and finally Blue Ridge Bank. Paul is survived by his children, Mary Ann and Tom Jennings, Paul M. (Mitch) and Gloria Harris and Mark James Harris; sister, Jewell Saunders; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Paul will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his loyal cats and a fine cigar. Contributions may be made to the Jackson County Humane Society or the Sycamore Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.
