Dorothy L. Harrison, 81, of Independence, MO passed away January 18, 2005 at the Monterey Park Nursing Center. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the chapel with burial at Mount Washington Cemetery. Dorothy was born on August 28, 1923 in Independence, MO to L.G. and Irene Cogan. She traveled extensively to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific and widely throughout the United States and Canada. She worked for many years in payroll and Human Relations at the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital. One of her greatest joys was being with and caring for her grandchildren. Dorothy served for one year as a missionary in London, England for her church and was active for many years in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She accepted many callings and performed much Temple work. She was also a past member of the Independence Music Club. Mrs. Harrison was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Thomas R. Harrison; her son, Michael A. Harrison; and three brothers, William R., Jerry and Harry Cogan. She is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Harrison and Nancy Kruger; two sisters, Mary Helen Johnson and Bonnie L. Bauer; one brother, John R. Cogan; three grandsons, Brett, Ryan and Nicholas Kruger; and one granddaughter, Kristen Mohart.
