Harry Steven Stockton, a loving father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024, in Independence, Missouri. He was 89 years old.
He was born on December 12, 1934, in Barry County, Missouri to James and Mattie (Hampton) Stockton. Throughout his life, Harry dedicated himself to his craft at Stockton Drywall for many years, showcasing his exceptional skills and unwavering commitment to his work. His legacy as a hardworking and passionate individual will continue to inspire those who knew him. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Harry was known for his ornery yet witty personality. His generous spirit touched the lives of many as he extended a helping hand whenever needed. His welcoming nature made everyone feel included and loved—a testament to the kind-hearted individual he was. Harry's love for the outdoors was profound, as he found joy in activities such as hunting, fishing, golfing, and traveling. Whether he was exploring new destinations with his wife, Violet, or seeking adventure in the wilderness, Harry cherished every moment spent surrounded by nature. Together with Violet, he embarked on countless adventures and would frequent Mexico on fishing trips. These journeys allowed Harry to indulge in his passion for fishing and immerse himself in the beauty of nature alongside the one he held closest to his heart. Apart from his outdoor escapades, Harry found great joy in watching Chiefs and Royals games, underscoring his unwavering support for his local teams. Whether on hunting expeditions or cheering from the stands, his enthusiasm was infectious and served as a source of warmth for those around him. However, above all else, Harry treasured the time spent with his grandchildren. A dedicated cheerleader at their events, he consistently showed up to demonstrate his wholehearted pride and encouragement. His unconditional love knew no bounds when it came to these precious moments shared with the younger generation.
Harry's passing is preceded by his parents; James and Mattie (Hampton) Stockton, his beloved wife; Violet Stockton, his dear son; Marty Stockton, his sisters; Reba Kamler, Mary Matthews, and Reta Henson, and his niece; Karen Kamler. His legacy lives on through his children; Steve Stockton (Kathy) and Kelly Blosser (Tim), his grandchildren; Steven Stockton, Kristi Pedrow (Nate), Robby Stockton (Cheyenne), Andrea Pierce (Tripp Langford), Chad Blosser (Lesli), Chelsea Blosser, Mikayla Titus (Joe), and Hannah Stockton, his siblings; Harvey Stockton (Nancy) and Sharon Hayworth (James), seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews that loved him as their grandpa.
Services to honor and remember Harry will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence on May 28, 2024. The visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by the funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A graveside service will immediately follow at Lobb Cemetery.
