Trudora “Trudy” Harshman, 90, of Independence, MO, passed away on June 11, 2014 at Vitas Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Trudora Vest Harshman was born the youngest child of Truman and Anna (Park) Vest on August 24, 1923 in Olathe, Colorado. She married Gordon Harshman on July 26, 1941. Her early education was in Olathe, CO. Trudy went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree from Colorado University in Boulder, and a Master’s Degree from Ohio State University. After teaching high school Physical Education and Home Economics, Trudy became a guidance counsellor at Chollo High School in Tucson, AZ in 1964. Trudy retired from the Tucson United School District in 1984. In 1973 she served as president of the AZ Personnel and Guidance Association. After retirement, Trudy and Gordon moved to Grand Junction, CO. Trudy was known fro her many artistic abilities and her paintings are treasured by many. She also enjoyed many rounds of golf at the Bookcliff Country Club in Grand Junction. Following Gordon’s death in 2006, Trudy moved to John Knox Village, a retirement community in Lee’s Summit, MO.
