Loydea V. Harvey, 92, of Independence, MO passed away on March 30, 2006 at the Rosewood Health Center. A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO 64052. The graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 3, at Mound Grove Cemetery.
Loydea was born January 9, 1914, In Minatore, Nebraska, daughter of Lloyd Ernest Thompson & Frances Aimee (Fergerson) Thompson.
Loydea lived in Wyoming and graduated from Medicine Bow High School in 1931. She lived briefly in Los Angeles, California before coming to Independence, MO in 1934.
Loydea graduated from the Independence Sanitarium & Hospital (IHS) School of Nursing in 1937. She was a member of the ISH Nurses Alumni. She did hospital nursing, private duty nursing and worked for Dr. Gard as an office nurse for many years.
Loydea was active in the ISH Woman�s Auxiliary, on the board for a number of years and also as a volunteer for 40 plus years. She was also a member of the Music Club of Independence and Pan-A-Dephia Club.
Loydea is preceded in death by her previous husband Louis G. Elser in 1984.
She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Harvey; brothers Wayne N. Thompson of Palm Springs, CA, William F. Thompson and wife Eleanor of Independence; nephews Thomas L. Thompson & wife Melissa, and Terrel W. Thompson; step daughters Glenda Harvey Divine & husband Lawrence, and Carol Harvey Beaver & husband Gerald; step son Robert B. Elser of Florida; great nephews and niece Aaron Thompson, Sarah Thompson, Matthew Thompson and Tyler Thompson; step grand children Nikki Farmer, Bryan Beaver, & Christa Beaver; and five step great grandchildren.
