Dale Haslett, 73, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015. A visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00pm Sunday, January 11th at Carson Speaks Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 12th at State Line Cemetery north of Salem, Arkansas.
Dale was born November 13th, 1941 in San Jose, CA as one of four children to Woodrow and Ruth (Hutson) Haslett. In youth his family was rooted in Moko, AR where he graduated from Salem High School in 1959. He worked for General Motors until he was drafted in to the Army at the age of 26. He proudly served during the Vietnam War where he earned two Purple Heart medals for his services to our country. Afterwards, he worked as a Car Hauler for Allied Systems for 35 years before retirement in 2001. He enjoyed relaxing with his daughter, landscaping his yard, and golf. He loved his dogs, “Samantha” and “Baby.” Dale is remembered as a simple country man. He is loved and will be missed.
Survivors include daughter, Gwen Lee Haslett-Walters; son Rodney Lee Haslett all of Independence, MO; brother, Jerry L. Haslett, Sr. (Ann) of Lawson, MO; sister, Carolyn Kay Barton (Ralph) of Moko, AR; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren who he was especially proud of. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Dean Haslett; infant daughter, Sherrill Ann; and son, Michael Wayne Haslett.
