Kenneth Wayne Hastings

December 15, 1949 — December 11, 2020

Kenneth Wayne Hastings, a gentle, loving soul, passed away at home on Friday, December 11, 2020. He was 70. Ken was born on December 15, 1949 to Ralph and Frances Hastings in Independence, Missouri.
Ken was a Boy Scout and in 1964, he earned the esteemed rank of Eagle Scout. After graduating from Truman High School in 1967, Ken attended Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa and graduated with a B.A. degree in Biology in 1971. Ken then attended UMKC School of Dentistry and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1975. While in dental school, he went on a mission trip to Haiti, where he provided dental services and education to the underserved communities there.
Following graduation and practicing dentistry in Buffalo, Missouri for several years, Ken opened his own practice in Oak Grove, Missouri, serving the community for almost 40 years.
Ken was a huge sports fan, rooting for the Chiefs, Royals, and Missouri Tigers. While he didn't attend many games in person, he rarely missed any televised games.
As a boy, Ken enjoyed many family trips to Lake of the Ozarks, visiting his grandparents' cabin. His love for the lake carried into adulthood. He and Lynda enjoyed many weekends and summer holidays of boating, jet skiing, and swimming with family and friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his best friend and life partner, Lynda Cauveren; her children, Jason Cauveren, Elizabeth Zoeller (James); granddaughter, Cory Jane Zoeller; sisters, Wanda Brokaw (Erik), Helen Gross (Randy), Charlotte Moore and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
