Margaret Hatmon

Margaret Lillian (Barrett) Hatmon, 91 of Independence, MO, passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 at Rosewood Health Center. Visitation from 1:00 p.m., followed by services at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. Margaret was born February 18, 1921 in Independence, MO to Edward and Lilly Maybell (Bear) Barrett and has been a lifelong area resident graduating from William Chrisman in 1939. She had worked as a garment worker for Mendel’s Clothing in the Kansas City garment district for a number of years. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and traveling with her husband. She was a longtime member of the Community of Christ Stone Church. She was married to Paul W. Hatmon on August 14, 1942; he preceded her in death in 2007. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sybil Mallory and 3 brothers, Warren D. Barrett, Delphus N. Barrett and John L. Barrett.
